Francois Carre Sunburst Armchairs
This refined pair of "Sunburst" garden armchairs by Francois Carré will add a burst of light to any space. Originally patented in 1866 and produced in the 1930s, the chairs feature sculptural iron frames that support painted "spring steel" panels in a fine gauge that allow gentle give and flexibility for comfort when seated. The design is iconic for its striking sunburst pattern, lending a decorative, French Art Deco flair to the classic garden furniture form. Initially designed for use in Parisian public spaces like parks and boulevards, this durable style of seating was considered revolutionary for its time, becoming highly sought after for grand estates and villas. Lightweight yet sturdy, they offer refined comfort for outdoor dining, terraces, and contemporary urban gardens alike. This pair is newly restored in a white powder coat to be enjoyed for years to come.
